Beam me up, Scotty

So we are back into blogging mode.  Exams are done and dusted and now I have the head space to focus more on completing this challenge.

Todays prompt is: “Pretending you have the expertise to make the product a reality, what do you wish you could invent?”

So.  What would I invent? Well a teleporter of course. There would be so many useful applications for such an invention. Like getting to work. No traffic.  Planning a holiday somewhere really far?  No problem. You can get there within minutes and spend more time at your destination than travelling.

Forgot to buy a birthday present? No more awkward excuses.  Teleport  to a shop on your way to the party. Uninvited guests showing up at your door when it’s Saltycrax time of the month?  No problem. You spot your ex somewhere and before they see you, you hope the ground will open up and swallow you?  No problem. Your Teleporter will port you the hell out of there. Dignity in tact.

Seriously though.  I suspect with the advances in technology this invention is not too far off in the distant future.  My Dad always recounted some of the “unbelievable” inventions from a comic he used to read as a kid.  And that he lived to see some of those things become a reality. For example in the comic, the “Laser Interceptor” was something Brick was meant to help Dr Tymak invent in 1947.  And a few years later. The laser was invented and made a reality in the 1960’s. Tymak also had a door to the 5th dimension and a time machine which Brick Bradford used.  So whose to say those inventions are not in the making already.

There are numerous movies featuring time travel and time travel machines.  From the Back to the Future series through to the Time Travellers’ Wife.  I don’t think I would want to invent a time travel machine. I don’t want to go back in the past. Call me a bit of fatalist but things have happened as they should – good or bad sadly. But I am an optimist. The Now is all we really have. And today’s happy experiences are tomorrow’s treasured memories or not.  So, for me, being able to beam around and see my favourite people and do my favourite things. like visiting far off places at the drop of a hat. That would be perfect!
